Which fish do you own?:
Betta Channoides Betta Dimidiata

Is there a fairly reliable way to sex dimidiata?? I think I might have 2 males, except one is quite plump now and more aggresive. Their fins and colors appear to be males. How do you ever sex young fish???

Dimidiata males are more intensely colored then females. Males may also show a brilliant band in the anal and tail fins. Females ovaries might be visible via spotlighting.

Thank You Niko, and I have been studying that link to no help...lol One is very plump and appears to have eggs. Both have a blue band that is very pretty.and one has the bright yellow orange band on its dorsal fin which I'm hoping is a male...both have nice long flowing fins and is quite difficult to figure if I have a pair or not, by colors and finnage.
Oh yes and one of them appears to have a solid dark body while the shows markings in its sides (female?)

I hope to be able to maybe find 2 females somewhere but they seem to be not too common or available.
